Best All-Inclusive Resorts from Halifax (Direct Winter Flights 2026–27)
Picking an all-inclusive from Halifax is really two decisions: which resort, and whether you can get there without a connection. This guide pairs the two. Every resort below is reachable on a non-stop winter 2026–27 flight from Halifax Stanfield, and every detail comes from the resort’s own website, checked in October 2026.
We don’t publish star ratings or prices here. Ratings shift with every review and prices change daily, so we’d rather you see them live. What you’ll get instead is what each resort says it offers, who it suits, the honest trade-offs and the YHZ flight that gets you there.

How we chose
- A direct winter flight from YHZ. Each resort is in an area served by a non-stop listed on Halifax Stanfield’s non-stop flights page for winter 2026–27.
- Facts from the resort, not from us. Names, locations, adults-only status and amenities come from each resort’s official website. We link the source for every one.
- Open this winter. Several big Jamaican resorts are still closed after Hurricane Melissa, so we only included one that has announced a reopening date.
- No invented ratings or prices. Check current reviews and rates on the booking site before you commit.
- No Cuba, for now. See [why](#what-about-cuba).
That gave us eight resorts rather than a longer, padded list. For the bigger picture on destinations, entry rules and packages, start with our all-inclusive vacations from Halifax guide.
Mexico: Cancún and Playa Mujeres
Cancún is the easiest all-inclusive destination to reach from Halifax this winter: four airlines fly non-stop, starting with Air Canada on October 27, 2026. Browse Cancún all-inclusive resorts on Trip.com, or see all Cancún hotels.

Hyatt Ziva Cancun: best for families in Cancún
Hyatt Ziva Cancun sits on Punta Cancún, the point where the Hotel Zone turns the corner, and welcomes all ages. Hyatt says it has three infinity pools, a KidZ Club for ages 4 to 12 and an @Moods teen club for ages 10 to 17. It’s all-inclusive only.
- Pros: separate clubs for kids and teens; a central Cancún location.
- Cons: Hyatt’s FAQ says airport transfers aren’t included, so budget for one. Not the pick if you want a quiet, adults-only stay.
- Getting there: Air Canada, WestJet, Air Transat or Porter non-stop to Cancún (CUN).
Excellence Playa Mujeres: best adults-only near Cancún
Excellence Playa Mujeres is an adults-only (18+) all-inclusive in Playa Mujeres, north of Cancún. The resort says every room is a suite, there are 12 restaurants, and there’s an upgraded Excellence Club tier.
- Pros: adults-only; lots of dining choice without leaving the resort.
- Cons: you’re outside the Hotel Zone, so it’s less convenient if you plan to spend evenings in Cancún itself. No kids allowed, which rules it out for families.
- Getting there: the same Cancún non-stops.

Dominican Republic: Punta Cana and Puerto Plata
Compare Punta Cana resorts on Trip.com.
For flights, areas and entry rules, see our full Halifax to Punta Cana all-inclusive guide.
Hyatt Ziva Cap Cana: best for families who want a water park
Hyatt Ziva Cap Cana is on Juanillo Beach in Cap Cana, about 15 minutes from Punta Cana airport according to Hyatt. It has 375 suites, six restaurants, seven bars, kids’ and teen clubs, and a water park with a lazy river and slides.
- Pros: the water park; a short transfer; adults in your group (18+) can use the neighbouring Zilara.
- Cons: with only six restaurants, there’s less dining variety than at the biggest resorts on this list.
- Getting there: Air Canada (from Oct 25), Air Transat (from Dec 13) or WestJet (from Jan 8) non-stop to Punta Cana (PUJ).
Hyatt Zilara Cap Cana: best adults-only in Punta Cana
Next door, Hyatt Zilara Cap Cana is adults-only (18+) and all-inclusive only. Hyatt’s FAQ says tips are included.
- Pros: adults-only; gratuities included, so there’s less to think about at the bar.
- Cons: guests 18+ from the family-friendly Ziva next door can also use it, so it isn’t a completely separate adult enclave.
- Getting there: the same Punta Cana non-stops.
Viva Heavens by Wyndham: best for families on the north coast
Viva Heavens by Wyndham is a family all-inclusive in the Playa Dorada complex in Puerto Plata, about 20 minutes from Puerto Plata airport, according to the resort. It has a Vivito’s kids’ club and an 18-hole Robert Trent Jones Sr. golf course, and its “Stay at 1, Play at 2” offer gives access to sister resort Viva Tangerine in Cabarete.
- Pros: a different side of the Dominican Republic; golf on site; access to a second resort.
- Cons: the spa costs extra. Direct flights don’t start until January, and there are only two airlines.
- Getting there: WestJet (from Jan 7) or Air Transat (from Feb 9) non-stop to Puerto Plata (POP).

Jamaica: Montego Bay
Jamaica comes with a caution this winter. After Hurricane Melissa, Hyatt delayed the reopening of seven Montego Bay and Rose Hall resorts, including Hyatt Ziva and Hyatt Zilara Rose Hall, to the first quarter of 2027 at the earliest (Caribbean Journal). Before you book any Jamaican resort, check its own website for its opening date, then compare Montego Bay stays on Trip.com.
For flights, resort reopening dates and entry rules, see our full Halifax to Jamaica all-inclusive guide.
Sandals Montego Bay: best Jamaica pick for couples, from December 18
Sandals Montego Bay says it reopens on December 18, 2026 and is taking bookings now. It’s adults-only and designed for couples, with nine restaurants and six bars, and round-trip airport transfers are included. The resort is close to Montego Bay airport.
- Pros: included transfers; a short ride from the airport; three airlines fly Halifax–Montego Bay.
- Cons: it’s freshly reopening, so book with flexible terms in case dates shift. Couples only.
- Getting there: Air Canada (Thu, from Dec 3), Air Transat (Sun, from Dec 20) or WestJet (Mon, from Feb 8), each once a week.
Barbados and the Bahamas
Sandals Royal Barbados: best for trying somewhere new
Air Canada launches the first non-stop between Halifax and Barbados on December 17, 2026, the first direct service connecting the island with Atlantic Canada (PAX News). Sandals Royal Barbados is in St. Lawrence Gap, about 15 minutes (12 km) from the airport, according to Sandals. It’s adults-only for couples, with 21 restaurants and 14 bars, and round-trip transfers are included.
- Pros: lots of dining; included transfers; Canada rates Barbados “normal precautions”, its lowest advisory level.
- Cons: one flight a week (Thursdays), so you’re locked into a week or two.
- Getting there: Air Canada non-stop to Bridgetown (BGI), Dec 17 – Apr 1.
Sandals Royal Bahamian: best for a private island
Sandals Royal Bahamian is in Nassau, 7.4 km from the airport. Sandals says guests get a private offshore island, and the resort has 10 restaurants and 8 bars, with transfers included.
- Pros: the private island; a short transfer.
- Cons: a weekly flight only. Canada advises a high degree of caution in the Bahamas, especially in Nassau and Freeport, so read the advisory before booking.
- Getting there: Air Canada non-stop to Nassau (NAS) on Fridays, Dec 18 – Apr 2.
What about Cuba?
Cuba has long been a favourite all-inclusive destination for Atlantic Canadians, but we’re not recommending Cuban resorts right now. The Government of Canada’s Cuba travel advice, updated October 5, 2026, says to avoid non-essential travel because of shortages of fuel, electricity, food, water and medicine that can also affect resorts, and that all Canadian airlines have suspended service to Cuba until further notice. If you travel anyway, Cuba requires proof of medical insurance on arrival. We’ll revisit this list when the advisory changes.
Best adults-only and family picks
Adults-only: Excellence Playa Mujeres (18+), Hyatt Zilara Cap Cana (18+), and the three Sandals resorts, which are for couples. For the shortest wait for a flight, go with Cancún or Punta Cana. For somewhere new, go with Barbados.
Families: Hyatt Ziva Cancun for separate kids’ and teen clubs, Hyatt Ziva Cap Cana for the water park, and Viva Heavens for the north coast. All three welcome all ages.
For kids’ club ages, water parks and the documents children need, see our family all-inclusive vacations from Halifax guide.
When to book
Fares and resort rates move all the time, so we don’t quote either. As a starting point, Google’s 2026 holiday travel analysis of U.S. departures found Mexico and Caribbean flights were cheapest about 43 days before departure, within a 24 to 69 day window (Google). Weekly routes such as Barbados, Nassau and Montego Bay have fewer seats, so for peak weeks book earlier rather than later. Our all-inclusive hub has more on timing, and our guide to cheap flights from Halifax covers fare-hunting tactics.
For booking windows, Nova Scotia school-break dates and hurricane season, see our guide to the cheapest time to go all-inclusive from Halifax.
Getting there: direct winter flights and transfers
Here’s the full list of winter sun non-stops from YHZ, grouped by resort area. All are per Halifax Stanfield, checked October 19, 2026, and subject to change.
| Resort area | Airport | Non-stop airlines from Halifax |
|---|---|---|
| Cancún / Playa Mujeres | CUN | Air Canada, WestJet, Air Transat, Porter |
| Punta Cana / Cap Cana | PUJ | Air Canada, Air Transat, WestJet |
| Puerto Plata / Playa Dorada | POP | WestJet, Air Transat |
| Montego Bay | MBJ | Air Canada, Air Transat, WestJet |
| Nassau | NAS | Air Canada |
| Barbados | BGI | Air Canada |
The Sandals resorts above include airport transfers; Hyatt Ziva Cancun doesn’t. If yours doesn’t, check Kiwitaxi for a private transfer from your arrival airport and compare it with the resort’s own shuttle.
Insurance, eSIM and money
- Insurance: Nova Scotia MSI covers only inpatient emergencies outside Canada, up to $525 CAD a day, and the province recommends travel health insurance. Compare plans with VisitorsCoverage.
- Data: resort Wi-Fi rarely reaches the beach. A travel eSIM from Airalo works from the moment you land; see our guide to the best eSIM for Canadians.
- Money: “all-inclusive” covers different things at different resorts. Spas (extra at Viva Heavens), transfers (extra at Hyatt Ziva Cancun) and tips (included at Hyatt Zilara Cap Cana) vary, so read what’s included before comparing prices.
- Entry rules: the Dominican Republic needs an E-Ticket form and a passport valid six months after arrival, and Mexico has a digital immigration form on arrival. The hub guide has the full list.
